Was just watching the end of the Titans/Bucaneers game on CBS and D* ran a spot stating D* is "now pumping out over 70 National channels in HD with up to 100 by the end of the year..."

My only concern is that by conservative counts, D* is now only "pumping out" about 40-50 national HD channels. I know they are planning on having "close to 70" by the end of October, and up to 100 by 12/31. But this ad is just a little early, don't you think? :p

Yes, I'd have to say it's a little less than 24 hours "too early" from what I've heard...

You'd think that since they have kicked everyone's butt so far in HD, that they would maybe do a better job of NOT providing arsenal to the remaining naysayers. :D

Lets just watch TV and stop watching ads; its no big deal; and they all do it and we all know it. No need to worry and no need for any court cases about that drive up OUR monthly bills.

"Nothing to see here!"

Wow 2 weeks of having more channels than the main competition after being behind them for a long time does not translate to "kicking everyone's butt".

It does when you consider that they are now the "leader in HD". My comment had nothing to do with history, just current events. Maybe I should have said "D* is leaving everyone in the dust"....would that be acceptable to you ;)

What is D*'s current count if you include the RSN's ???

I think we have a lot of channels coming on Wensday ....

I count 46 total based on what D* says on channel 77, then you get into the argument that it does not count HD PPV, NFL ST, NHL CI, MLB EI, The national broadcast feeds available nationally with waiver, and a couple of other HD channels that seem to get fired up at times.

Well - the cats out of the bag I guess. I had seen some of the clips from upcoming ads - and now here they are.

Yes, I think this one today for some reason is a week early, but nevertheless, the onslaught is coming. We all know DirecTV does a very effective job of advertising.

This is the PEAK television purchasing season - now thru Super Bowl. This year the forecast for HD purchases is HUGE. I fully expect DirecTV to be all over it - they are banking on picking up LOTS of NEW HD customers in the next 4 months.

Be it only 2 weeks or 2 days since their HD expansion began, they are going to capitalize on what they now have - don't expect them to back off. And they are naming names, and taking no prisoners.

There site has 33 listed in the "Just Launched", 13 listed just below that and 7 under "Comming in October". That calculates to be 53 not 70. Don't they understand people can do math?

They avertise that there will be over 70 by the end of the month and up to 100 by the end of the year. What are the other 17 channels to be launched this month in HD not listed on there site?

THIS happens EVERY year at this time, advertising wise .... so the addl. HD channels are great, but the advertising is nothing new for the till Super Bowl push.

Are RSN's listed on that list ? They will be national soon, and the ST HD channels as well.
