Silly question: does the receiver require batteries? I have an old audio receiver that has a spot for three AA batteries specifically for the memory function. Without the batteries in the receiver it will not remember anything. With the batteries it rememembers the settings. The batteries lasted over 20 years!

I am switching it off via the remote. As I said earlier, it is retaining the channels in memory, but it won't receive a signal from the sat. I have tried power cycling it from the switch on the back with no effect. Its like the unit is disconnected from the dish. I hope to have some time this evening to try and do a direct connect. The more I think about it, it seams as if the switch is bad or "confused" and not directing the receiver to the correct dish.

Thanks
