Can a person order Showtime without having to have a regular package or locals?

I'm guessing Iceberg is correct, as usual. My friends really only watch movies most of the time, and have HBO and Starz only from dish. I have to assume they could have Showtime if they wanted to. (They also have the distants from All American)

You can have just movie premium channels if you want and you own your on receivers, but there is a $6.00 no basic pack fee monthly.

$6.00 B.S. fee is just B.S. By the time your done buying equipment and then paying an extra $72.00 a year for the B.S. fee it ain't worth it. BTW Showtime sucks these days. My 3 month free preview with Direct is almost over and I watched one move on Flix that I have on tape in the time I had it. Aint like HBO or Starz.

It depends on if you like their series like Dexter, The Big C, Nurse Jackie etc... Their movies are not all that great though.

Agree,
Inside Nascar ,and my wife like Weeds. Thats the only reasons I Subscribe.

I subscribe to Starz and Cinemax for movies.

Its too bad Cinemax Line up with D* sucks.

Showtime though ,D* has a better selection. But a base package is required.

The Showtime mux can be better if these DBS provides gave us all the channels. Looking at the c band master feeds for not only Show but HBO & Starz there is allot more selection. A couple years back I had all the c band movie services free for 3 months. I got 87 movie channels from the big 3 providers, That Rocked! That's what is needed on DBS not a small handful.

The only Showtime channel missing from DIRECTV's offering is Family Zone. DISH doesn't offer Next, Women and Family Zone. It doesn't seem like a major hardship given the options come New Year's Day.

I don't watch any of the Showtime series, and I seldom find a movie that's worth watching, but I do enjoy the Sundance Channel, and the only way to get it is to subscribe to Showtime. If DISH ever separated Sundance and Showtime, I would drop Showtime in a heartbeat.

It's nice that at least one little dish provider gives people the option of owning their own equipment and allowing someone to just get the movie channels if thats all they want. :p

Also i heard the reason why MikeM went too bed with charlie is because Directv pays it's resellers poorly.:D

NPS is a dead issue, their game will be over in a few months. Then SRL with Comcast will be running the C band show. I don't know how well Sobongo will do pushing knives, forks and spoons. It will be nickle and dime profits for Mike M soon. I'm sure he will regret killing off c band when he makes 5 cents here and there with Sobongo :haha

I don't know about Dish, but D* separated Sundance from Showtime--if you subscribe to ANY premium channels, you get Sundance.

I don't have up to date information, so I asked DISH customer service for an answer. This conversation took almost 20 minutes of my time, and you can see for yourself how far I got. I would have liked to drop Showtime and substitute Starz, but it will cost me $10 to find out, and I don't have any confidence that it will work. I did drop HBO though, which I had been meaning to do since my free trial ran out last month.

[FONT=Arial,Helvetica]Thank you for being a valued Dish Network customer. I will be happy to assist you today.
(03h1) Henry H.ZDB: Hi Michael
(03h1) Henry H.ZDB: How can I provide you with the best value and service today?
Michael : What are my options for getting Sundance. Showwtiime for $13 per month? Any other options?
(03h1) Henry H.ZDB: Please give me just 1-2 minutes while I check on that for you.
Michael : ok
(03h1) Henry H.ZDB: Thank you.
(03h1) Henry H.ZDB: I appreciate your patience.
Michael : Not a problem
(03h1) Henry H.ZDB: Thank you.
(03h1) Henry H.ZDB: I see that on the account you already have HBO/Showtime on the account.
Michael : Correct. I am wondering what will happen if I drop HBO, or if I drop Showtime, or if I drop both. Bottom line is I don't care about either channel, but I want to keep Sundance
(03h1) Henry H.ZDB: Let me check it
Michael : It used to be that you had to subscribe to Showtime to get Sundance, but that was when the same company owned both, and Sundance was sold to another owner last year
(03h1) Henry H.ZDB: Let me check it
(03h1) Henry H.ZDB: I appreciate your patience.
Michael : ok
(03h1) Henry H.ZDB: Thank you
(03h1) Henry H.ZDB: We are sorry, the Sundance is not available.
Michael : Yes it is, I was watching it last night.
(03h1) Henry H.ZDB: Let me check it
Michael : But what happens if I drop one or both premiums is what I want to know.
(03h1) Henry H.ZDB: Let me check it.
(03h1) Henry H.ZDB: I appreciate your patience.
Michael : What if I drop both and add STARZ? Would I get Sundance then? What triggers activation or de-activation of Sundance?
(03h1) Henry H.ZDB: Yes, the Sundance is available with Showtime.
(03h1) Henry H.ZDB: You can keep only showtime on the account
Michael : Thank you! Can I keep only HBO, or only STARZ?
(03h1) Henry H.ZDB: Yes, you can keep it.

D* has Sundance in the Choice Ultimate package as well. Maybe E* should add it to America's Top 250....:) I do not watch it enough, though. However, I know that others would like to have it without subbing to a premium package.

What is the $5.99 local channel subscription option? Is that for international packages (the ones that cost $30-50)???

Didn't know you cannot sub to one-four premium without a package???

Let's keep in mind that Dish does have the Encore pack at 250, while DirectTV has it as an add-on. Not the one is necessarily better than the other, just that each has it advantages and disadvantages.
