Just purchased a Sony KDF-42we655 TV with a built in tuner. I currently have a Directv h-10 hd box with the existing tv.

I Live in Nassau County in New York. Will the built in tuner with an OTA give me access to any channels I'm currently not getting through my D* service ?

Will the OTA give me better quality HD than D*.

Thanks

You'll get all local DT stations with a medium to large antenna (and possibly) a pre-amp. And OTA is superior to D*.

DirecTv user,

In NYC the combiner has been working fine. You can get abc, cbs, nbc, fox, and wb. PBS still is in the works. Just make sure to go to www.antennaweb.org and get the direction according to your location. Your antenna should be pointing towards the Empire State Building. You can try various model at Radio Shack or any store with a guaranteed return. Since you are in Nassau, get an antenna with according to the distance between empire state building and your location. antennaweb should provide you with that information. There are various guys here from NY so post if you have questions.
