OTA Module headache

I put an OTA module on my Wally. My home is in South Dakota and I am in AZ. On some channels I go to the guide and click on an OTA channel and it looks like is going to work and the screen goes dark. Signal strength says 90-100 but it won't work. And some of the guide info is wrong. It will show info from a complete different channel. Is it a defective tuner or the time zone difference or what the hell. And Dish was absolutely no help. I am 100% positive it is not an antenna problem.

And some of the guide info is wrong. It will show info from a complete different channel.

Since the OTA repack occurred in October in Dayton Ohio several OTA channels are displaying the wrong information in the Guide. Perhaps that is what is happening with you.

Let it update over night and you might see the correct info. If I make changes in my existing ota stations I sometimes get the wrong channel listed on my guide till the update at night. But minus the main 4 networks and possibly the CW station , you won't always get full correct guide information from DISH. They only support the channel guide information for the channels that they have up on the satellite anyway.

Could someone explain this? I reported it to DISH but not fixed since last Saturday. WFXP should show the FOX logo NOT ABC. Did a rescan and reboot. Not fixed. Very strange.

I could've sworn I read somewhere on here that OTA channel info only gets updated 3-4 times a year, if that. In September Escape renamed itself to Court TV Mystery and it still says Escape on my guide

The bad and non existent guide information for the sub channels and other channels is why I went and got a TABLO ota dvr with 4 tuners. It has all the guide information for all my channels and sub channels and is very reliable for recording with name based timers.

Could be worse. Our cw ota doesn't even have guide info or the logo, and our nbc doesn't have the logo .. They both did at one time, even the cw guide info, then Dish took it away..
I don't think they are worried about ota info at all.

Our cw ota doesn't even have guide info or the logo,
My CW sub has the logo and full info. Could be a problem with the station not providing the information. Only time info and channels logos were messed up was when we had channel reassignments a couple months ago. It was corrected in a couple of weeks.

Mine doesn't have guides for half the channels and I know for a fact that the stations update their guides because everything is always on the tv listings app I used to use for OTA channels...actually since info is missing I still have to use it lol

I was seriously considering getting an OTA and even had an appointment. The Installer said he would do it, but also said, that I would not like it after the fact. Hearing that sometimes the local channels work and not work was the main reason or reasons why I did not get it installed. I have always liked Dish for always having the channels on, whether it was Dish Locals or other Channels on their channel lineup.

TBH our OTA channels have worked flawlessly. The guide for several of the channels doesn't show what's on...but the actual OTA channels themselves have worked great. In fact those OTA channels come in better than they did on our TV's before and they are integrated into the Hopper w the rest of our satellite channels and DVR which is awesome. IMHO the Dish OTA adapter works pretty darn good and is a great value (saves $12 a month).

FYI my experiences are with the dual OTA tuner (the newer one).

Today, my single channel HWS OTA USB adapters just don’t work as well as my other tuners. I’m quite happy with the CM DVR+ tuners, and that’s where I do my OTA recording. And the CM EPG is top notch.

Maybe the Hopper dual tuner is better. I don’t know.

Thanks, but no particular reason to. We’ve come to like the separation of functions, as at our RV we only get (minimal) OTA and use a CM DVR+ there.

Same here. When I rescan the ota the info is always screwed up until the overnight update.

My OTA guide here in OR probably has been messed up for over a year now. I pretty much gave up on getting the correct guide info after complaining, andf bought a Amazon ReCast for the my Fire stick. Solved the issue.

How far away are your Local Channels from where you live? I am about 45 Minutes to an Hour Away. You argue a good point, and I might just want to reconsider doing the OTA. My only hang up with getting the OTA, is that next summer the Olympic Games are on NBC, and I want to make sure that I can see it!!!!

I was able to get my OTA antenna installed for $0 and overall it works very well. There are a couple guide issues, but I'm willing to overlook those since they're not with the Big 4 networks....
