OTA no working after Update

Advertisements
One thing I have noticed with my new dual channel OTA adapter hooked up to my Hopper3, in the Dish Guide for OTA channels, if there is "no description available for this event," trying to record it the replay is "timer creation failed. Please try back later." So, no description no record. The single channel OTA adapter worked fine in this situation, until the #711 update broke it.
Scanner, are you setting up a manual timer or just clicking on the appropriate section of the grid guide?

Well, neither. When the program is airing, and I want to record the rest of it for viewing at a later time, pushing record fails to create a timer.
Did you just connect the new dual OTA adapter within the last couple of hours and scan for new channels? If so you may need to wait for the next guide update to get programming titles and descriptions. Or you could force a guide update. Whichever channels had guide data with the single tuner should also have data with the new dual tuner.

So, I have Frontier Fiber Internet, would an Eero WIFI Extender work with the Tablo or is there a better option or choice
You need a direct ethernet connection to your TABLO. It doesn't work on Wifi. So in my house it sits right next to my modem/router and is plugged into it. It will only work in your house on your home network. My living room is in front of my office with the router. I use my antenna to power 8 different things for ota. So I ran the antenna coax into my office to run the TABLO and my TV in that room. I can watch my TABLO on all 4 of my TVs in the house using the TABLO app.

It will work as long as the extender is in extender mode and not router mode, the later which would create it's own subnet. The extender needs to have the same SSID and also the same IP subnet as the main router. The extender also needs to have an ethernet port which is directly connected to the TABLO by ethernet cable. If it doesn't work, then it's just a matter of turning on uPnP or turning off uPnP and then port forward the tcp/udp to the TABLO and the TABLO should always be assigned a static IP address.

New dual OTA adapter installed a week ago, scanned, and re-scanned for OTA just three days ago. Same problem. When viewing a OTA program which is currently on the air you cannot record it.

Let's be very specific here, what remote are you using and what is the entire process you are using to try to set up the record. For example, I am going to assume you are going to an OTA channel, what is that channel number. Is it a -2 or higher channel? In the guide does that channel show program information or just the channel ID? Finally, what button pushes are you using to attempt to record that program.

Edit: What receiver are you using.

New dual from Amazon installed and working on Hopper3. Guide automatically updated several minutes after scanning.

I thought I found a workaround for the "Timer Creation Failed" issue when trying to record a current live show for an OTA station that does not have any Guide info;
I moved the start time a minute or two ahead from the current then clicked "Create" and it "appeared to start recording, but then I could not find it showing as recording when I hit DVR. And now when I try to view an OTA channel, it shows both OTA tuners recording and I cannot select them nor can I join them and free up a tuner! Even though I believe one should be done recording.
I need to wait an hour now for the second timer to end recording and see if things work again.
Recording OTA is definitely sketchy!

Question: If they fix the old single OTA dongle issue, can I add it to the system for a 3rd OTA tuner? (on a Joey or the Hopper3?).

In answer to your question about adding a second OTA dongle to your setup, no , you can't. The receiver has a max of 2 OTA tuners.

Also having the issue where my OTA adapter (guessing single tuner) is no longer detected/working with my Hopper3. Tried unplugging ota adapter, unplugging hopper from power, waiting 1 minute and plugging back in, waiting until booted up and plugged adapter back in, still nothing. Tried differnet usb cable and still not working.

I did check that the usb port on my Hopper3 still works with an ext hard drive, it was detected shortly after plugging into same port. Dongle says "ota digital dongle" on the back for model.

It has now been a month and it looks like Dish Network has no plans to fix the usb ota adapter that the latest software broke. Whenever I contact Dish support they tell me that i have to purchase a new adpater.
