After several enjoyable years watching Montana PBS on AMC21 (Ku), MT PBS today switched to DVB-S2 format. Both my Pansat 3500SD and MT PBS have served me well until now.

Am I wasting my time attempting to reprogram my 3500SD to get DVB-S2?

Is DVB-S2 possible on 3500s.

Is there a kit or upgrade I can get for DVB-S2.

Help .....!!

No,and No, the 3500 is SD only. Sathawk/solomend/Openbox time.

Just to qualify,

I know the 3500 is SD only and I'm happy with SD. Is DVB-S2 strictly HD only?

Government upgrades usually have some degree of backward compatibility so I doubt an upgrade such as DVB-S2 would render all SD equipment useless.

So, is there any possibility I can still use my 3500 with DVB-S2 for SD TV?

Lets make it simple for ya denise..

Pansat 3500 = NO DVB-S2 in HD or SD period.

Hope that helps

Here to stay like Iceberg said it.

Need a good and cheap DVB-S2 unit? Look for Coolsat 8000 on ebay. Sometimes u find some for very cheap. You can even check for the Coolsat 8100 model which ebay had 2 sold recently for under $80

Hi all, another option that I did not see mentioned would be a PC DVB-S2 card. If you got this route you will need a reasonably strong PC for the HD.

Later, DC
