Does anyone know whats up with this new HD model Pansat put out?I see that its now for sale on some web sites but all threads and posts seemed to of dried up here in the end of march.

Last weekend I sent an Email to Pansat USA about the TC-1000 receiver I've seen advertised on fleabay. Here is the answer I got back from them concerning the functions of that receiver.

Dear customer,
The TC-1000HD works the same as the 9200HD. Once you install the S-2 module, you will be able to watch FTA - MPEG2 & MPEG4 format programming. You are welcome to visit our website One second please. and select the option "TECH SUPPORT" and then download the channel list (over a hundred channels) with MPEG4 programming under the red letters "DVB-S2 (8PSK, QPSK) Channel List". A handful of these channels are in High Definition and AC-3 audio.

Best regards,
Technical Department

So it looks like this is the next generation FTA receiver from Pansat that replaces their 9200HD receiver. Only problem is that it's more money than an AZbox Ultra @ $325 with the S2 card installed and it won't do 4.2.2 either. :(

You're not really comparing apples with apples. The TC-1000 tuner can do:

ATSC A/53 compliant 8/16 VSB and ITU-T J.83 Annex B,C complian 64/256QAM

meaning it can receive OTA HD and clear digital cable, neither of which is currently available on AZbox although it may be a possibility in the near future.

This receiver does sound like a winner if it does what its supposed to do.Wonder why we dont seem to hear about anyone buying these receivers  maybe its the high cost.
