partial sound tracks?

We recorded a few programs and when playing them back we're getting partial sound.

For example:
Recorded the season finale of Big Bang Theory. The DIALOGUE was missing but the laugh track was there. Breaking to commercial was complete sound track, back to the show and sound track was partial again.

I've noticed this at odd times on live programming as well. A commercial with Shaq where you couldn't hear a word he said but background music or narrator voice was there.

Anyone else seeing this? or.... hearing it? (or not) I'm getting confused...

IT is called the CBS network or network local station problem. I have been hearing this on the endings of a couple of CBS shows . Watched Rules of Engagement and it happened at the last minute of the show. Same here on the Big Bang theory and I am in Texas using a 722k recording a ota cbs station. So my guess is it is a network problem.
