I ordered a portable Directv dish from Amazon to use when we travel. Got a HD DVR receiver from Directv. This is the description

We have it set up according to azimuth etc that we got. I changed the Dish and Switch type to what the Directv tech told me but the receiver still cannot detect the satellite. Help please

:welcome to Satelliteguys Carol Bell!

Setting up a dish is tricky. The mast must be plumb, the other settings must be exact as you are pointing at satellites that are 22,500 miles away. Are you getting any signal strength numbers at all?

What receiver model number
Thats what I was gonna ask ...

Op,
Also, theres no such thing as a HR55, (HR54 is the correct one in that instance) as posted in Post 1.

Depending on which recvr your trying to use, it needs to be set up accordingly ...
You only get 1 of the Genies listed and they need a Power Inserter to get a signal. .

An H44 or an HR54 doesn't need a power inserter Jimbo. It's built into the unit.

The whole genie system and weird naming conventions brings that comment to mind.
