I like to open this thread because according to VOOM this will be in their lineup of channels (either as PPV or a dedicated channel) in January 2004. We have a little more than a month to decide what to censor. I am the moderator but would like to know everyone's opinion about the topic. I will not allowed bashing of language of anyone in this thread so keep it professional and to the point.

What type of language or discussion should be allowed? Should pictures be allowed? Should strong descriptive sexual language be allowed? What's your opinion? Are we strong enough to handle this type of discussion?

I think we should let Bert Gordon tackle this series of questions.

As far as I'm concerned, it's all cool.

I read your post several times, and can't quite grasp what your driving at.
A: What gives anyone the right to 'censor'. (or should that be rite :) )
B: IMAO, if you don't want children to see it or read it, don't have it or post it.

Well, that's the point. Should we censor or not? Is fine with me and apparently Andymon and apparently you are ok with it. Just go to AVSforum and you will see that they do not allow explicit sexual language in their threads (even if it's talking about HD programming). Every site has the right to censor as does every entity (newspaper, tv, radio...). It's up to the members to decide and this is why I asked the question. :)

I agree, there are enough ways in the english language to say what you want to say without offending most people.

We're all supposed to be adults here. I say throw the forum out there unmoderated, with the proper warnings so people know what they're clicking on and anyone who abuses the privilege will be dealt with on a case by case basis.

Perhaps if there was something that covered the words or sentences in black where you highlight it and see what it is written there would help prevent the words be accidentally seen by children.

This is going to be interesting. Sean's porn forum, hehehe. Maybe we could come up with a list of euphemisms, sort of a code. Kinda like, lued for lewd, breasses for t*ts, well you get the idea. Or even Latin anatomical names since we will most certainly only be having mature analytical discussions here.
Can't wait to hear your first review, Sean! :D

Already got that:
THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT THE SPOILER TAG IS FOR

I guess I have to ask... what kind of discussion in a DBS forum is going to require the hiding of words? I don't really see the need to degrade this fine forum with unsavory language.

I too think we are adult enough to police ourselves.
I don't think there's a need for censorship from above.

The only reason why someone brought that up was due to the fact that there were concerns of minors possibly reading things on the site that maya be inapropriate.

Here's a topic for discussion. In case playboy does not show up on VOOM before the 18th, we can all watch this:

The L Word in HD on Show-HD (Yes!)

It is going to premiere on January 18th at 10pm WIDESCREEN OAR HDTV on Show-HD.

Close Picture of Cast

I like when it says:"Lust, Scandal, Love, Scars... No Taboos... An Intimate Look At The L Word!" showtime website.

The SHOWTIME Original Series, THE L WORD, is about a group of young women in Los Angeles, their lives, careers, and romantic relationships - both gay and straight.

Jenny Schecter (MIA KIRSHNER) is a gifted young writer of fiction who has just graduated from college and arrives in Los Angeles to begin her "adult life" with her boyfriend - soon to be fiancé - Tim Haspel (ERIC MABIUS). Tim and Jenny reside in West Hollywood, next door to Bette Porter (JENNIFER BEALS) and her partner Tina Kennard (LAUREL HOLLOMAN). Bette and Tina have been a couple for seven years and are trying to find the perfect sperm donor to help them start a family as they struggle with their relationship. Bette's and Tina's close network of friends includes Shane McCutcheon (KATHERINE MOENNIG), who is the resident heartthrob; Dana Fairbanks (ERIN DANIELS), a professional tennis player not yet out of the closet; bisexual journalist Alice Pieszecki (LEISHA HAILEY); and Bette's half-sister Kit Porter (PAM GRIER), who is a musician and a recovering alcoholic. In the two-hour pilot, Jenny's plans for her future are shaken when Marina (KARINA LOMBARD), a beautiful and compelling woman who owns a West Hollywood café, makes a pass at her at a party hosted by Bette and Tina. Amid denial and confusion, Jenny starts to question her sexual orientation and her love for Tim. Her attraction to Marina is powerful and ultimately irresistible. Meanwhile, Bette and Tina, stunned at how difficult it is to find a suitable sperm donor, attempt to seduce a handsome, young artist on the night that Tina is about to ovulate. The seduction attempt fails, but the encounter does serve to rekindle, at least momentarily, Bette's and Tina's passion for each other.

In the meantime Bette

and Tina go at it at a given moment.

The plot does not sound that great but the action sounds good...

Warning: some material may be not suitable for some.:)
I would not mind seeing them go after each other with all their have to give to each other.
