I'm going to use a dish 500 on port 4 of the dish 1000.2 to try and get a better signal on 129. How long can the coax be between the dosh 100.2 and the dish 500? I don't want to pt them side by side and would rather place the second dish in backyard. Also do I have to use dishpro lnb on the dish 500 for it to work?

First off you need to cover the 129 eye on the 1000.2 with aluminun foil. The length of the cable must be 200 ft. from lnb to receiver. So for example if the receiver is at 100 ft. from the 1000.2 then you must have the second dish 100 ft. away from the 1000.2. Last yes, you MUST use Dish Pro LNB Dual or Single for the second dish.

excellent, thanks. Now if I decided to go with a di3h 500 and a dish 300 and use a dp34 switch do I need dishpro lnb's as well?

In accordance with the installation instructions for the 1000.2 "The cable length between the DISH 1000.2 and a connected compatible LNBF must be 80 feet or less".
