up on the roof in SinCity
i have gather a hand full of bud's is there a way of powering the lnb's without a reciever ?
would like to have 5 of them fixed postion and powered up, then split to a few little boxes.
thanks alot

Use a self-powered multiswitch?

If 12 volts on some, and 18 volts on other LNBs is not satisfactory, Pendragon documented a nice mod to a readily available 4x8 switch recently.
It has its own power supply, and is easily modified, if need-be.

A 4x8 switch could connect to four LNBs.
With two such switches, followed by diseqc switches, you could easily expand to 8 LNBs.
See this post in the Switch FAQ for encouragement.

thanks alot
Anole & pendragon
you 2 are tops

one of these WNC SWA-48 4x8 switches
out of the factory has 4 12v ports and 4 18v ports ?
is that right ?
if this is true i cold use 2 of them and save the Soldering, not very good at it. can get it to work with plumbing lol.

clarification:

If your LNBs will work okay on 12 volts (probably good enough to get started), you're done.

A 4x8 multiswitch has eight outputs.
The four inputs normally would hook to two, double-output LNBs.
... or maybe two LNBs on a feedhorn (one for V, one for H).
In your case, you could use four independent LNBs, one on each dish.

Now, you did say you had LNBs, not LNBFs, so if this is correct, each LNB will get one polarity (H or V) only.

But if you have the voltage-controlled LNBFs, now's the time to speak up.
'Cause that's a whole different situation. :)

Please see the link above into the Switch FAQ.
It'll show one way to hook up multiple LNBs or LNBFs.

after closer reading i see it has only 4 power ports and pendragon got all 4 to do 18v.
right ?

here is what i am doing now
chaparral feed horn>lnb>Splitter 1 port power pass>drake 1824
..............................................port 2>4 way Splitter> to various places

now i have 2 problems not enough old receivers and i don't want to use all the juice to run a bunch of them.
i can change the polarity thru the boxes when needed.
thanks
