I have an RCA dual LNB system with cable tv running into the "In Ant." After a severe lightning storm, the satellite system was fine but the cable tv signal was weak with lots of snow. The cable man checked things out and announced that the problem was with the satellite receiver not passing the cable signal through cleanly when the receiver was turned off. Sounded like hooey to me, but when he ran the cable tv straight into the television everything was okay. I confirmed the situation on the second television. I have tried a hard reset and have taken other components out of the line (VCR, etc.). Same result: when the cable tv runs through the satellite receiver the cable tv picture is very poor. So what obvious thing am I missing?

Welcome to Satelliteguys! Unfortunately I believe the cable man is correct. I think the portion of your satellite receiver that passes the OTA signal is fried. Does the receiver work ok other wise?
