Problem Detected with the Hard drive

While watching a recorded program the picture and functions froze hard.

Did a RBR, message popped up saying a problem was detected on the hard drive.

It started to scan the drive in an attempt to "fix the problem". Like scandisk in Windows.

It took two hours found no problems, rebooted and it seems to be running Ok at the moment.

Is the harbinger of death for the hard drive or was this just one of those things that happen once in a great while?

Yes. So replace a receiver it if leased or buy new disk if it owned as soon as possible.

Well, it's dead. and I have a new leased one on the way.

It was fine until this morning when a circuit breaker popped and turned off the box.

When it came back on it was stuck on the scan in a continuous loop, everytime the box restarted so did the scan.
