Which transponders and satellites carry the DirecTV on-screen program guide? If the guide information is on multiple satellites, is the guide downloading faster from one satellite versus another?

The guide information is sent from either the 119 or 101 sat depending on which dish you have. The data is stored on the hard drive and is used to populate the on screen guide. The data is updated in the background, meaning that speed from a sat has no bearing on the operation of the guide. But, indexing of the data can be a bottleneck.

Thanks JD,
I forgot about the 119.

When everyone is moved to the newer dishes, will they be moving the guide data to only the 101 ?

If you have the 5LNB dish the guide comes from 119, if you have the 3LNB then it's the 101. The receiver determines this by which dish it detects.
