Protection Plan Now $7 per month

Scott mentioned this in the sling thread that the price was going up by $1. Just thought i'd mention that the increase has been added into the bill as of today.

I don't and Haven't had the insurance plan since it went up from $1.99. I would rather pay the shipping and Handling as needed ,rather than a consistent $6.00 -$7.00 a month.

$7 X 12 = $84 plus $15 for a service call = $99 the same price as a service call without the protection plan.

Yep have had it for several years but as of today we decided to drop it.

Yep, doesn't make much sense financially when you can add it anytime you need it.

This is a total BS fee. I can see paying $7 to insure equipment that I own, but on leased receivers no freekin way!

The conversation goes like this with the CSR...My equipment is broken, please send me a replacement. That will be X dollars Sir. STOP. Please transfer me to the cancelation department. On second thought Sir, I can waive that fee for you.

Just be glad DISH isn't like D*,because with D* when you add the Protection Plan to your account you can't use it for 30 days.

Some other stuff changed today also, mainly for new customer promos.
Dish America & International programming are NOT eligible for monthly programming discounts.
Online redemption for bonus credits has changed, more credits geared to online. There are lots of folks who do not have internet & have no interest in getting it, lots of boomers who choose to opt out are left out.
