Hi, this is my first post though I have been reading and learning a lot here for a few months now. I set up a 1 m. mini bud with a bsc421 + scalar ring and had my first C band experience. I´ve had a bit more experience with ku as I am currently watching 30,79,97,101,116, and have at times tuned in to 58,93,123,125. I´m currently aiming at 99 trying to watch the networks mux from puerto rico,. I usually get a Q between 45 and 59 it does vary during the day, but it takes a dip to zero every now and then and my picture freezes. This keeps happening all the time ever since I started testing c band. I aimed my dish todat at 58 and 116 withe the same outcome. Could it be the lnb? It´s the only one I have now. Is 1 m too small? Lyngsat says I need 0.8 m. I´m testing with the same results on Pansat 2500, Pansat 2700 and Coolsat 5000. Any advice would be welcome as I don´t know if I´m doing something wrong. Thanks! (This is the best site for learning!)

I assume that your 1m dish is offset feed?

Are you using a conical scalar ring?

Lyngsat is sometimes optimistic.

I don't know if he's done better than anyone else with a 1m Primestar (I lost interest), but a while back, Linuxman made a good effort.
I know him, and he would have tuned 'till his fingers bleed, to get the best possible out of his setup. ;)
See at least the link to his list of receivable signals:

For a pretty good example of what a 1.2m will do, ya might check out PopCorn's thread.
He did about everything I can think of to make it work:

PopCornNmore does C on 1.2m ChannelMaster & C2, with brackets 'n pix!:

I didn't double check, but I'm sure both reported their reception success on 99° west, for networks.

My internet was down this morning but I finally read those links suggested by anole, they really did help. Thanks Ice too for your help. Truth is a mini bud is really just for testing, you can´t get serious reliable cband on it. For now the 1m is all I have. I´might be able to get a 1.5m offset that someone told me about, I´ll have to look into that next week, not sure my wife would be happy with the idea though. I do already have six 30" ...... I was just thinking... if I did get the 1.5m how many ku lnbs could I mount on it? Say i aimed it at 99° how far E and W could I go on some custom multiple bracket? I wonder if that would sound convincing to the wife? Any thoughts? Thanks!

thoughts? yes:

This thread is pretty long, so just scan through it looking for tables and pictures:
Linuxman and entire arc on 6' Prodelin:

Mike of Global-CM, has a similar 6' dish which claims a wider span of birds.
See his site and look for a post by him here on the forum, for more info on his Skyvision creation.
Think it's the same dish Fred used, and only a little larger than the one you propose.
