My parents have Charter digital with hd and internet in Montgomery, Alabama. They saw the picture quality of DishNetwork at my house and decided to switch soon. However, they are keeping Charter Basic and internet. What HD channels does Charter provide via unencrypted QAM? Their tvs do support QAM. They really only need the locals b/c Dish doesn't offer them yet. I was at my boss's house in Montgomery several months ago and we scanned and only found a few, random digital channels but no HD. Does Charter provide the locals unencrypted like they're supposed to?

The last time I checked here in Greenville / Spartanburg SC, all the locals were in "free" mode as long as you were a subscriber to video services.

Here in Ct they don't show up in the scan. I had to try and figure out where they were and add them manually. Then they worked.
There is a forum that helped me find the frequencies. I think it is dslreports.com. They have forums for specific cable companies. Hope this helps you.
