I was going to ask my question in the "reviews" section but the relevant thread appears to be locked ( http://www.satelliteguys.us/showthread.php?t=74457 )

ftadirect.com site claims that Viewsat VS2000 is "future smart card upgradeable" and they list a bunch of encryption methods (Nagravision, Nagravision 2 and so on) as if to suggest that inserting appropriate subscription card will enable to me watch subscribed to programming ( . http://www.ftadirect.com/viewsat_vs2000_16896_prd1.html ). But there is no other explanation provided and the PDF manual does not seem to mention anything, either ( http://www.viewsatusa.com/VS2000-MANUAL.pdf ). I have a LEGAL and PAID FOR GlobeCast subscription. GlobeCast uses Nagravision - so this is a very interesting feature to me because I 'm looking to replace my TERRIBLE GlobeCast receiver with a better unit. Ideally one with all the other "standard" features of a decent FTA receiver (USALS, blind scan, on/off timers, SP/DIF etc).

Does anybody happen to know if Viewsat VS2000 is out of the box capable of accepting subscription cards? Or does it have a CI port and requires an additional CAM (like this one http://www.cyberestore.com/product_info.php?products_id=153 ) Or is this a feature that MAY be added via a firmware update at some point in the future (and for now all that is included is just the card reader)?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Michael
