Just had the new tech leave house. said all looked good. Problems with HD signal dropping. Says our cable is bad We have HD 7000 Cable < reading off the cable itself> he leaves and The reason we had tech out was satelite loss.. of signal. So Dish says new migrate to new stuff your stuff is obsolete.. < I think my DP34 switch went bad but expert is expert right? So All new stuff Switch is outt all wired direct.
No reliable HD signal still As soon as they guy left the signal fails on a bunch of the stations <hd signal> So Is the signal weak up here in 47 land? <latitude>

I hate it when stuff behaves perfectly when a tech is hovering over it, and then misbehaves when he leaves. I had an old Jaguar that I swear could smell my mechanic's neighborhood and started purring like a kitten.

So, a bit more info, please. Which arc are you on? What receiver are you using? What dish setup do you have? Whatever it is, there are probably people here who can tell you what you should see for a signal strenght on various transponders.

two 722's and a 211? replaced the older stuff that relied on the DP34 switch.. And new LNB installed Most of isse is one television cant get all the channels we are resetting it now.. But when tech was leaving he said he had to take out all the splitters as our cable is bad? and wire it straight to the dish LNB. my arc i dont recall and dark and freezing outside .. so...
The issue is the HD on the other 2 V's no Hd at them or HD for only short periods of time.. I know they are gonna charge me for HD so it better work or we'll cancel and go elsewhere we have 40 mb dsl now so we finally have options rather than Dish

I'm confused. I'm curious which Dish you have. When I see 34 switch, I think Superdish or International DP500+, all of which, as far as I'm concerned are obsolete and outdated, so like Claude asked, what did the tech actually do? Did the tech tell you the cable was bad, and then not replace it???

The tech replaced all boxes a2 722 new and a 300 ? and a new LNB

Everything worked on 1 TV and he left the house saying that the issue originally was a bad switch I had a DP44 and DP34 to get the original 5 TV's < 4 TV's and a dual DVR> due to rising costss.. i removed the 5th TV and set top Lost a satelite had him say every thing is obsolete.. here but your cables are weak..

I have since tested the switch on all the TV's and boxes and now it seems to be working right Here is a pic of the screen i took this AM

You may still have problems a signal strength of 3 is unacceptable. signal bar is red and not locked

Did you scroll through the transponders on 119 to see if TP5 is a spot beam pointed somewhere else (just throwing something on the wall)?

I have since done the test switch test on all the TV's and boxes and It seems to be the solution. Before it would say "weak signal on HD channel switching to sd and then say complete signal loss screen
Has not done that since i did the test 6 hours so maybe i am good

As I was wandering troubleshooting the problem I saw this and it irritated me. This is what the dish guy left. Now I admit I am not the most finicky guy but this is poor work. And reflects badly on dish satellite repair guys.

That would make me want to beat someone's face in. I've taken pics like this and sent them right to the tech with a not so nice message attached

That looks like sh*t.

It only takes a few minutes to make the wiring look nice

"Beat someone's face in" ? Really? What would you do if it was something serious or important?

Well I didnt get the name of this tech? All i know is he was from Lolo MT and was busy in Idaho the past month and Seemed to be hmm non enthusiastic about working. We had dish network support call the tech and i guess that is rather random at times But since i worked in the business < fire burglar alarm and communications I made it right but It shows that experts are not always someone to trust

You were there, right? Why did you sign off on that if you are in a similar trade? You should have insisted he tidy things up?

We were supposed to send people to ID for out of market work, but we got real busy. I would have definitely gone. Too bad, I couldda been the guy that did the work for you :)
