Philadelphia to Launch Later This Month

HERNDON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 22, 2005--RCN Corporation (NASDAQ:RCNI - News), a leading provider of triple play cable, high-speed Internet and phone services, today announced a contract with Tribune, one of the country's top media companies, to launch the WB High Definition Signal and to renew its retransmission consent agreement. This means that RCN will continue to carry Tribune programming on its systems and has begun offering the WB High Definition Network in the RCN HD suite of HD channels.

The WB stations that have launched "high-def" programs on RCN's network are WPIX-TV in New York City, WBDC-TV in Washington, D.C., WLVI-TV in Boston and WGN-TV In Chicago. Later this month, WPHL-TV in Philadelphia will have its digital, high-def WB programs carried by RCN.

"We view this as another important step for us in providing additional digital high definition program choices for our customers," said RCN Executive Vice President & Chief Technology Officer Timothy Dunne. "By combining the popular WB stations and their programs with the digital, high-definition experience, RCN continues to connect its customers to something more in entertainment."
