[VOOM] Sony KDF-55WF655 remote and voom

Anyone have this TV (or this series) and get it to run the Voom STB? The
manual and on-line support only list GI/Jerrold/Primestar under cable box,
not sat. receiver. I tried all those codes anyway and none work. :-(

Not that big a deal as I need to get a universal remote anyway, but until
then it would be nice to get the sony remote to work voom.

Thanks,
Sean

Can't help ya there Sean but when you're ready to buy a universal remote,
checkout the Harmony Remote. I absolutely love mine as do my parents who I
got one for and my best friends bought two after I turned them onto it. In
fact, the wife said "I don't know which I love more, the DVR or the Harmony
Remote"!

I have a KDF-50WE655 - it doesn't work with VOOM. I wish it did because this is the main family room set and it would make my life a lot less complicated if the wife could use just one remote for VOOM, TV and the Sony home theater system.

As far as remotes go...I've had a Home Theater Master SL-9000 for over 4 years now and love it. I finally retired it to the bedroom and replaced it with a Home Theater Master MX-700, which is one of the most complete, PC programmable remotes you will ever own. However, they are a little complicated and pricey! They also make an MX-500, which less complicated and has been priced at about $85.

Good luck...

Most likely you won't be able to control VOOM STB with your Sony remote. However, you should be able to control your TV set with your VOOM remote: On/Off, volume, mute and input selection.

I've had good success with the Sony Remote Commander line of remotes.
Currently I'm using an RM-VL1000 to control of the following
components with one remote.

Toshiba CinemaSeries TV
TimeWarner (scientific atlanta) HD-DVR
Pioneer amplifier
TiVo Series 2
Pioneer 300 disc DVD changer
Voom STB
The gas logs in my fireplace!

The Sony Remote Commander has no pre-set codes for Voom but it only
takes about 10 minutes to teach it the infrared codes button-by-button
in learning mode.

I certainly like the harmony line but lack of RF is a bit of a problem, as
all of my components will soon be behind wooden cabinet doors. I've got the
RCA IR <-> RF <-> IR "bridges" running now so they may work fine with the
harmony. Other than that I've looked at the UMC MX-800 (I think) series
that has RF as an option.
