Reading satellite receivers inquiry

Hello,

Just curious....

Is there a software for reading information and to analyze from the
satellite receiver by using an RS-232 interface on Windows XP or higher??!
I've seen satellite receivers have RS-232 interface connector.
And the computer laptop have an RS-232 interface connector.

Usually the RS-232 on the receiver is used for last ditch recovery when the receiver is not responding or bricked.
Also recent PCs do not have an RS-232 port so you will need a USB/RS-232 adapter.
