Reception - iPad vs iPhone

I'm sitting here in a rural location, and can get SatGuys on my 3GS. But little or no connection on the iPad "3". Both on AT&T data plans.

Does this ring true with other's experience?

Torquing the wife off. It's her iPad.

Never heard any antenna-gate issues on the iPad, but I only have wi-fi ones.

I know my iPad is faster than my iPhone over WiFi.
