I assume they pushed an update through when the fan is going full speed. Thought it was going to take off and fly around the room;)......But whatever they are pushing through I either have to pull the plug or hold the button on the front to reset it, to get it to work again.
Is this normal or what?

It's not that unusual to have to reboot your box after an update to save changes. Kind of like what it is a PC w/ a form of linux on it.
 
Pulling the plug in the middle of a firmware update is asking for trouble.
