Record directly to external HDD, now available?

I missed this if it's been mentioned, but I just noticed on my 622 (L448) there is an option to record directly to the external HDD.

When I select something in the future in the guide, previously the record options were, "DVR", "Auto Tune", and "Reminder". Now, "Ext" is available as an option.

I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere, but I can't believe I'm the first to notice. Is this just something new with L448? It's not available on my 722 which still had L447.

Ummm...nevermind.

The "Ext" option shows up on the 722 with L447 as long as you have "recording to external device" enabled. (Menu --> 8 --> 6 --> "ERD Setup")

Either way, it doesn't work.

Ahh...thanks. I was so hoping I could record directly to the external HDD. Oh well.
