Recording from 625 DVR to VCR problem

Novice needs help in adding/connecting a Zenith VR 1862 VCR to existing setup of, one AKAI LCD Digital HD TV; one Phillips BDP 5010 DVD Player; and a Dish Network Dual Sat 625 DVR.. Purpose is to record and play back programs recorded on the DVR and further saved for playback to and from the VCR. The following connectors are in use or are available.

DVD player connected via component. (Green, blue, red) cable, (YPbPr) and associated R/L audio pair to like connectors on TV. Playback only No problem.

DVR TV 1 S-Video out, w/ assoc R/L audio to like connectors In, on TV, for Live TV play and/or record with recorder play back. No problem.

DVR TV 2 Coax cable out connected with splitters to other TV;s in other rooms. Play, record and playback, No poblems

Other DVR TV-2 connectors available-- Second set of RCA component Video and assoc R/L Audio out connectors,

VCR-- one set composite Video RCA In and out connectors available and one set single side RCA audio in and out available

TV-- One set AV-source, RCA composite video and assoc R/ L audo connectors available.

Have connected VCR-In connectors, to the DVR-TV-2, 2nd set of RCA- Out connectors, and the VCR Out connectors to the TV AV-source, input connectors . When I playback from a ..DVR recorded program to record onto VCR and then play from VCR to TV, I get only confetti type display similar to old TV loss of sync problem. Have tried both dual and single mode operation of DVR

Would greatly appreciate any detailed, step-by-step information for accomplishing the desired operation. Thank you

What is 1862? Model number or the year the VCR was made? Must be if it doesn't even do stereo. First step is replace it with a newer VCR or a DVD recorder.

OK, now that I've got that out of the way, let's see. You should be able to accomplish what you want with the set of spare composite (yellow/red/white) connections from TV2. Since you only have one audio input on the VCR you might want one of those splitter/combiner things for RCA to combine the red and white together, or just pick one. That and the yellow cable would go to the inputs on the VCR. Connect the outputs on the VCR to the TV and make sure you see what's coming from the DVR. This is all before ever recording anything. There might be a setting that tells the VCR to use the inputs instead of the antenna. So the active connections looks like this:

DVR(TV2) => VCR => TV

Remember you're using TV2 so unless the DVR is in single mode you'll need to use the TV2 remote to control it. Go ahead and record something, it should end up on the tape.

I am thinking the issue is that you are not selecting the composite signal input for the recording source and are getting the static from the obsolete NTSC tuner built into the VCR.

VCRs varied a lot in how they selected the video input. Some had a hard switch, some used menus, others had special channels like "199" that connected the composite inputs. Try to find a user manual for that model or just poke around until you see an image on the TV
