Currently I have an HR-24 in my living room and I want to relocate it to another room. Problem is that the cabling isn't long enough, my question is should I just buy a barrel connector and run new rg6 or should I re run it from the splitter? The location to the new room is about 20 feet away, give or take.

either way should be fine. I have one receiver that has a 50 foot connection with a barrel in the middle (way to hard to rerun a new cable) from the splitter and a DVR about 100 feet away with no issues

Thanks Iceberg wasn't sure if there would be video loss with a barrel but thought I better ask before I did it. Thanks again.

20 feet....nah it should be fine :)

now as long as you're not adding 20 feet on top of say a 175 foot run you should be fine

No, right now from the splitter is about 10-15 feet of cable coming into the house to the receiver so after all said and done maybe 40 feet of cable (new and old).

You won't have any problems. Iceberg sent you in the right direction. 40 feet is nothing to run a cable, just make sure you have RG6
