Remote unresponsive when TV is on?

Hi all, for some reason I'm having an extremely weird problem. I just recently got a new 32" LG TV....for some reason when the TV is on, the remote does not respond to any commands directed to the receiver...when the TV is off, the remote works fine (light blinks when buttons are pressed)

Anyone know a solution to this?

Try a remote reset. With the remote on D* press SELECT MUTE, when the green light flashes 4x, enter code 981. This will clear any codes programed into the remote D*, AV1, AV2 and TV.

Then reprogram the tv code with the switch in the TV mode. Your tv may have codes that contol certain functions (power, vol) but others may not work (chan, #). Try all the codes until all functions for your tv work.

The backlight of the TV is interfering with the remote.
First thing is to turn the backlight down and also turn off the automatic light control (if it has one).

jdspencer has it right and another solution is to set up your remote in RF mode so the backlight won't matter.
