Repack Dates For Washington DC Market

WDVM is, I believe, still at low power. At my parents' house, the signal level has not changed substantively since the transition on August 2. Although their website had said they were planning to move to the full-power facility earlier this week, their most recent filing was after that date (IIRC; FCC database is down right now) and said that work was still being done.

Yes. But two weeks ago I could get it to scan in, even if I couldn’t watch much.

Two weeks ago, WDVM would have been at 550 kW. Right now, I believe they're on at 18.4 kW, quite a bit less. When all is said and done, they should be up at 800 kW.

So, I climb up on the roof of the RV shelter and it’s 30-40 degrees off to the west. Reaimed.

Didn’t seem to help. I rescanned. Still have the same four channels of MPT.

SIGH. Antenna isn’t very old. Doesn’t look to be in bad shape. Coax and connectors are good.

Maybe add a mast extension to get it to a higher elevation? Sometimes, a few feet can make a difference.

I didn’t know that. Can’t hurt to try.

I’ve considered a taller mast, but the trees are a few times taller than the roof. Wouldn’t that be an exercise in futility, and make the whole thing more susceptible to damage?

A four or five foot mast extension shouldn't be a cause for worry. Any higher and I would use some guy wires to support it.

And I should consider a rotor. I will look for reviews on that cheaper RCA model.

I’ve never had a CM rotor go bad on me. Granted, the new ones are different from what I’ve bought in the past.

Any rotor at our RV will be rarely used. So that’s why I wonder if a cheap RCA would be good enough.

So this weekend I now need to climb up there again and clean it a bit.

If I get bitten by a spider and fall off, I’m blaming both of you!

Wait! We’re going to the PA Renaissance Fair this weekend. Maybe do it on Sunday.

Great! I’ll be at the trailer in about 3 hours. I’ll rescan.
