Externals have always worked great even though sometimes slower than usual. Have a good Many of them. Transferred items from the hopper to an external this morning. Upgraded the software as I noticed it hadn't been updated since April and I just bought a new Hard drive end of July. It's a hopper 3 and it upgraded to software version h397 at 8/5/2025 11:53 am. I am wishing I hadn't upgraded it

When I plug one in it recognizes it, shows percentage used if I switch to external hard drive, no photos though, etc. If I back out and go to the hopper and highlight to transfer it shows storage space used and not used but will not transfer anything at all. Again this was working fine several hours ago and it is now affecting all my Hard drives apparently. Shows percentages but no pictures and can't transfer at all. I called technical support snd they said this always happens within 24 hours of a software update and I mentioned it never has to me before

A few months ago, the 2nd (of 12) 512GB partition on my 6TB Seagate got corrupted and the whole darn disk disappeared. I have yet to fix that partition and have the Hopper "see" it again.
I'm very sure you know how to do that. See if any directories in the partition are available and just copy the entire directory to another partition. Nothing magic about where they are, the Hopper figures it all out.

If anything can't be accessed, then I guess SOL.
So after you've salvaged what you can, reformat it to EXT3 and see if it works.
In my experience, the Hopper will complain that it has to reformat the entire drive again. So I'd prepared to a staged move of all the directories into a newly formatted drive, slow as that might be.

I am getting upset as I erased 30 recordings I wanted to watch last night which took percentage down to 93 percent. When it reset on its own for the h398 software update it was back up to 100 percent and had erased on its own so I erased about 20 more recordings I didn't want to. Between deleting oe erasing recordings I have lost about 45 to 55 recordings and am upset. Still shoes percentage of all hard drives just no pictures and doesn't give me option to transfer to or from hopper. Been going on since the 5th at 1153 am

I'd recommend an EHD, but since I've lost most of my EHD recordings due to the H3 no longer recognizing functional drives - I can't.

The percentage shown on the screen for your internal hard drive has never meant crap! Sorry you lost those recordings, but the Hopper has its own, super secret, algorithm for updates.
I've erased multiple shows my wife recorded, and it's still the same; hit delete for a single one, and it goes down.

Also, a very BIG thing to know. The percentage is also based on the OLDEST program on the drive or a series. You can erase 10 programs and nada. But if you go to a series or program at the very bottom (the very last one) of the guide and erase "that," and, as if by magic, the percentage drops a lot!
The percentage is based on the oldest recording in either a series, folder or the entire DVR.

Bug, yes. Disk gives a whopping poop? Nope.

Sorry again.

I believe you have confused me with perhaps, JRyan821.

My EHD problems go way back, and Brittany essentially gave up. I have several EHDs, of sufficient size, that the H3 simply stopped recognizing. At All! Not erasing programs. None were close to full. 3 (or was it 4?) are RAID arrays.

Might be offering some for cheap soon.
