For those who missed it,

RFDHD is now testing on channel 345
OutdoorHD is also testing 606

Still in test mode and not available to customers as of this posting:

FXMHD 258
AHCHD (American Heroes Channel) 287
DFCHD (Discovery Family Channel) 294

As always, these channels are in engineering mode and are not avaliable to customers, and may not ever become avaliable. Generally, these are channels that are contractually pending, if they are made avaliable it's usually a week afterwards of going up in engineering mode pending any technical issues in the signal delivery. This is an indication of content that DirecTV could be adding to the lineup, if we ever see it.

If they have rights to the channel in SD why can't they just add it in HD? Why do they need to renegotiate.

You guys need an HD thread here. ;)

I'm glad to see all of these channels being added. Hope we get all of the remaining missing HD channels added soon.

I'm curious as to why it takes a week to test, wouldn't 24-48 hours be enough to know if the channel works, or is there more to it than just flipping the switch to on?

From what I've heard most don't, instead the provider will receive the HD feed at their end and send out a letterbox downrez SD feed with black bars.

That's how it should be but a lot of cable providers still have both HD and SD feeds. Just kill off the SD and free up bandwidth.

Interesting I was offered a comeback package few weeks ago and person was insisting Directv had changed attitude so I asked how? Followed by you still don't carry HD channels I've wanted forever and started reeling off some of the channels now in testing.

Anyway a little late just extended my Dish contract plus can't see ever giving up the H3.

A reliable member of the other site posted that all channels currently in test will go live on 9-28. That's RFD, Outdoor, FXM, Disc Family, and AHC if I recall.
