Fox has struggled to get a legit streaming service off the ground for a while. They were using Hulu for a bit, then they tried the failed thing with Disney that ultimately turned into Fox One, but aside from some traction with Fox Nation, they haven't had something compelling to sell.Ultimately, Fox is interested in sports and news viewers.

I think combining their offering with the Roku family of services and content is going to help them get a leg up. Personally none of what they have is anything I care bout, but just in terms of sheer subscribers, this deal puts them just ahed of Disney without even them trying to bundle this into a better thing.
At the rock bottom price of $22 billion.this deal puts them just ahed of Disney without even them trying to bundle this into a better thing.
Why didn't they just buy the Sony TV division and force the tvs to lock out competitor's news channels..I just dont see how buying a simple Simon streaming device is going to make people SUBSCRIBE to their streaming services.. I don't see the WHY they needed a streaming device...well other than to collect personal data and selling it to advertisersI feel the same way about Fox buying a streaming device company the same way some people would feel about CNN buying it. They are supposed to be impartial news media companies, but when they have the ability to shove something in your face, it makes them something else.

wait till they start charging you to watch tiger in a bikiniTiger Woods in a bikini? Can't unsee that!
Hope my purchase of a Roku TV yesterday will not turn out to be a mistake.

How did you set it up?It's not a requirement... my Fire TV isn't connected to the internet
and how do you use apps? It's not a requirement... my Fire TV isn't connected to the internet
??? I'm confused. FireTV and Roku are competing devices. They both do the same thing in slightly different ways. Why do you have them connected together? I have an Apple TV, a Roku, and a Firestick. They each connect to my Denon AVR via HDMI. I useeach of them to watch apps. Some apps work better depending on the device.I don't. I have a Roku connected to it. You don't need to ever connect it to the internet, even for initial setup.

Soooooo you are bragging about not connecting your tv to the internet while at the same time using a roku....why not just buy a regular tv?I don't. I have a Roku connected to it. You don't need to ever connect it to the internet, even for initial setup.

Ah, now I understand. I have something like that in my bedroom. It has a Roku TV and I have a Joey plugged into it. When Apple gets around to selling a new Apple TV I will rotate my present 3 ATVs and move my 1st generation to that bedroom. It was a cheap TV on sale. I hate the Android/Fire interface so I just connected my Roku to it. That's why I would prefer to just buy "dumb TV's" and use my own streamer.
I use a Firestick connected to my Roku/ONN 55" TV that Walmart had on sale for $199 at the time. It was quicker to just plug in the already set up Firestick than it was to set up the TV with my various apps. Then when I did take time to check out the Roku set up, I decided I liked the Firestick better anyway, so I set the TV to automatically startup with the Firestick active.Soooooo you are bragging about not connecting your tv to the internet while at the same time using a roku....why not just buy a regular tv?
