HELP! We have been using our Dish Network 301 home receiver on long road trips and while in FL recently I had trouble getting both the #110 & #119 signals at the same time while trying at several ST Parks where I had a good look at the sky.. I am using the full size 20" dish and a BS1B2UP201M LNBF on a short collapsible tripod. I am running the correct coax to the TV. I am no expert at aiming the dish but we know how to get a signal,etc.. Our dish blew over in a rain storm a couple of times, so I am wondering if that damaged the LNBF? Are they delicate for a 2-3' fall to cause this problem? We are home now and the #301 works fine back in its regular spot in the house.
I don't want to waste money on an LNBF that I don't need, but maybe a cheapy from eBay is the answer?

check to make sure the platter isn't warped out of shape
look for a ripple in the rim
it wouldn't take much of a fall to bend it only a little and that is all it would take
next cover one of the lnbs with foil or something and try to hit the 119*
then switch witch lnb is covered and again try to hit the 119* again
this will tell you if your lnb is ok or not
you may have to run switch test each time
lI have dropped lnbs off of roofs before and they still worked

I would second the possibility of the reflector being warped. I've dropped LNBs plenty of times and they still work fine. Reflectors on the other hand can become bent just riding around in the Dish van for a few days. They are much more fragile than you might think, and it doesn't take a visible bend to make it really lose signal. Your best bet if you are at home, is to put the LNB on your home dish and see if it works. If it works fine there, then you know it's your dish that's broken.
