S106 XACD UP

Friend,

When you convert to TS do you get 5.1 audio or just 2 channel audio. I keep getting only 2 channel audio. I know the source is DTS.

Thanks,

Hi Todd,

I have couple of mkv files with AC3 audio and I after converting with TXmuxer my audio receiver shows I have dolby 5.1 audio. I used TVersity with transcoding set to never for both MPEG-TS files.

If you are using ps3media server I know it had some settings which says convert DTS to 2 channel audio as quite a few players don't support DTS and only support Dolby. You can try Tversity with no transcoding and see if you get DTS show up. If not then I guess it is not supported.

Why hasn't anyone mentioned this yet!?!?! EHD playback works!!!!! I think this software update even recovered some of the recordings I had lost when I tried to use the My Media Transfer function. Not that I need those old episodes of Fringe and Chuck... but I got my Monte Python documentary that was on IFC back!!!!

Looks like you still can't transfer to the EHD, but we are almost there guys!

Check Post #8 in this very thread.

I am LOVING the DLNA support!

Last night I registered PlayOn and spent the night watching stuff from Hulu, Netflix, ESPN3 and some music videos and LOVED IT!

A few weeks ago I purchased a NAS and was ripping my DVD's to ISO, however because of the improvements on the 922 I have started ripping my DVD's to MKV and can now watch my movie collection on my 922. :D

I will try to take some screen shots tonight when I get home.

Good job DISH Team!

Scott,

How are you getting the MKV to play. I can't get any audio out of the MKV or AVI.
If I convert to TS, I get audio but it is only 2 channel. I am using ps3 media server.

Thanks

I am using MakeMKV and am not having issues. (I only tested one MRV rip so far on my 922 and it played without issue)

I am reconverting my Blurays to MKV now. :) Will coppy them to my home nas tonight and will try see how the 922 handles the HD rips.

Okay, I am really feeling old now. I don't have a clue what Scott is talking about. Sounds cool , but I still don't have a clue.

It is an HD file format that the 922 can play. He is ripping his Blu Rays and converting the main video track to this format. The files end in .mkv

Let me see if I can help you, If you already know please discard following.

What Scott is saying with this latest software you can view video stored on DLNA/UPnP ( DLNA Info ) capable devices(PC/NAS) on the home network. Before this software you were able view Images and listen to music stored on PC/NAS(Network Attached Storage) So, Dish added video capability with the new software.

Now with Playon. Playon is a DLNA/UPnP complaint server. (| PlayOn | Watch Hulu, CBS.com, MLB.tv, Netflix, and more on your TV with PlayOn!).
Not only it gives you ability to server music/images/video stored on your local PC but It can stream the content like Hulu, Youtube, Netflix, Pandora using your local PC.

You can use other media servers other then playon like TVersity, Nero media home, PS3Mediaserver(Free) or windows media player 11 to share the content.

Hope this helps. :)

Ok got home tonight from work tonight and turned my TV on to find my 922 was shut off by DISH. All channels were red with a 014 error code.

Checked the other receivers in the house and all was fine with them.

Earlier in the day I changed my programming from America's Everything Pack to AT250.

Anyways I logged onto my DISH Network account and noticed that something was missing... my 922.

So I call DISH and for some reason the 922 was removed from my account when I changed my programming today via the DISH website. But with a few button clicks the friendly operator had everything back on... (Again excellent customer service!)

Anyways got to take some pic of the DLNA feature in action. So here we go.

I am using PlayOn which works GREAT with the 922. In the pics you will notice I am watching shos via Hulu, Netflix and CBS... (I could have taken pics of all of the services, but they all look the same so I didn't.)

Having REAL IPTV like this on the 922 gives the 922 a totally new direction which I love!

Scott, I've installed PlayOn on my PC and I've got it running but the 922 doesn't see it. What do I need to do to get the 922 to see it?

Few points,

when you launch home media do you have any messages showing up like no server found or no ipaddress...

Usually playon fixes the firewall settings on the pc you install it but just make sure your firewall is not blocking any outgoing/incoming traffic on port which is opened by playon (for test you can turn off firewall).

Make sure your 922 has valid ip address. Try hitting refresh button on the Home Media app screen see what happens.

Following forum my be good idea.

I don't know if this change came with S106, but the 922 is now streaming in excess of 8000 Kbps smoothly inside my home network, tested on Slingplayer 2.0.3.508 on a pc that connects via wireless to the router. Prior to this it would not exceed 3000 Kbps in my house.

With the increased rates, picture is obviously much sharper and looks great.

Installation & Discovery Problems | PlayOn

When you say "launch home media" are you talking about on the 922? I'm connected to the 922 via SlingLink and a router. The 922 shows an ip address and my firewall is showing the PlayOn server as active, as well as the program itself. I've reset the 922, rebooted the PC, nothing. I've got to be missing something.
