I have a Motorola DSR 530 Receiver on Starchoice (Cdn Saletlite) I want to know if I can download my recordings to my PC. I have been told I can through the receiver to my Firewire connection on my PC. Of course I know the files will have to be converted to view on my PC. I do not want to go buy a DVI (or HDMI) to Firewire cable unless I know it will work

You can't "buy a DVI (or HDMI) to Firewire cable" - none of this exists. Just use normal Firewire cable if your PC had the type of interface or buy Firewire PCI card also.

My Computer has a firewire connection, but I need to know which connection on the receiver box I should use. There is no firewire out, only hdmi, component

Actually all I am trying to do is access my PVR HDD with my PC so I can download whatever files I want. Is this possible and if so what type of cables do I need?

Thanks
