Satellite Capacity, Picture Quality

I understand Dish has another satellite on order, although I don't know the expected launch date or intended location. Also, I don't have a current list, but Dish typically has more than one satellite at a given location, making capacity less of an issue. The 129 slot isn't likely to be used again for DBS TV, but Galaxy 34 may still be there.
i read the sat on order is to be delivered in 2028!!! who knows when or if charlie will launch it 🤔

there is no difference between PQ or audio between dish and or direct they both sound and look the same to me. if your a sports freak ten go with direct if you want more of a basic cable lineup then dish is the way to go.. and get the hopper 3 it's the only way to go with dish!!! as far as streaming services there hit or miss as far as PQ!!!

I expect it will launch, although Echostar might have some changes made before then to repurpose it if the Dish requirement goes away.
I think it will launch since charlie thinks there's still a need for sat service for rural folks!! the birds up there now are almost at end of life!!! Iv'e seen people asking if it will replace the 129 slot i doubt they will bring the 129 slot back... I think it will replace the dying sats up there now... If i was charlie id'e make it a multi purpose sat right out the door!!

There could be some significant changes to DBS by 2028 due to the lose of subscribers. It'll be interesting to see how it goes. A Dish/DTV merger could also change a lot of things.

Agree!!! i am thinking dish will buy directv since charlies in a better financial postion than directv... it will be interesting to see how it goes!!! direct's pushing everyone to streaming not all of us want to stream and iv'e seen the issues they have with streaming on FB!!! but the dollar deal and taking on all of dishes debt was just crazy lol...
All of these streaming services seem to be having more price hikes than sat or cable to will be interesting

i think sat will win over cable with cable's pricing.. cox pricing is insane just like spectrums.. i don't even want to think about how much cox charges for tv. we told em to stick there internets since they wanted $150.00 for gig service freaking ripoff!!! we went with centurylink for $75.00 a month no data caps

Retailers are reporting to me, that they see a number of IPTV users come back to Satellite for the fall and winter months. It just works better and has more features. (Plus they are watching more TV.)
And yet, YouTube TV just went over 10 Million subscribers and became the number 3 provider, Dish and DirecTV continue to lose them.

Wonders how the OP made out 🤔
caution Directv can get expensive real fast with all of the added fee's!!!
we could never get our genie 2 to sync up with the dtv app...
I like the transparency with dish's billing i know what i'm getting billed for...
i like the guide on the hopper 3 as it's 7 times faster than a genie :biggrin
i like the whole UI on the hopper vs the genie
I like the fact that everything's plug and play just download the dish anywhere app and it knows that you have a hopper no need trying to pair things up!!!
i like the voice remote as i use it for a number of things like setting the thermostat i like the fact my doorbell shows up on my screen..
you can buy a usb dongle and hook an OTA antenna up to it as well
i have mine hooked to to an alexa as well
Also directv will have constant price hikes!!!
When we had dtv with the price lock we were not protected from price increases!!!
I'm gonna agree with mike D about the PQ. as for sheets & giggles i watched some shows from the 50's & 70's we have a 165 inch micro led a sony 85 inch LED and a sony 77 inch OLED all look amazing

The only thing I can say is that Dish has gotten rid of all their SD duplicate content
Fixed it for you...they ONLY got rid of SD duplicates of HD channels - they still have way too many SD channels that should have been in HD ages ago. TV Land, Hallmark Family, Oxygen, MoviePlex, Disney Jr & XD, FM, MTV2, Nick Jr, Nicktoons, TeenNick are some of the basic channels that are still in SD - not to mention about 1/2 of the premium movie channels are still SD, from the Starz/Encore, Showtime/TMC tiers, & MGM Drive-In. (& I'm not even including all of the 3rd tier "junk" channels in SD, like shopping, etc.)

And while it's good that they have moved some channels to HD via IP/streaming & may do the same to others due to their current bandwidth crunch, that ONLY helps subs that have suitable internet bandwidth to accommodate this. Which is also a double-edged sword, because those same subs are more likely willing to dump satellite & go ALL streaming instead.
