Anyone see Swann's blog for today? Apparently the Echostar Marketing Machine is in full swing, claiming 70 HD channels. They're including HD PPV channels and RSN's in the mix.

HDTV is just falling victim to the marketing machine inflation like the rest of DBS... AT100 well how many are PI/Shopping... AT200 How many are music channels? etc. It all started years ago.

I read swanni's article and I too take it with a grain of salt. If someone states a fact like he did in his article, he should back it up with the name of the person who made the statement. I think it is pure conjecture on the author's part.

It makes sense. How many folks out there with HBO and SHO HD on MPEG2 receivers? Not many.

Yeah the more channels they can get on MPEG4 the better. That should free up space for them to add more channels.

Are the NHL Center Ice channels uplinked? or do they even take them down after the season is over for the Off-Season?

They hide them with engineering. I haven't seen them be released from Engineering yet. Since they are mirrors of the particular RSN that's carrying the game no uplinking is necessary.

Where the heck are they? All I see is the old one in my HD guide.
