screen lock problem droidx

I have a problem with my droidx that sometimes the screen doesn't lock (not the security lock but just the touch screen) after the screen is blanked out. If I set up the security lock and then turn it back off the screen will properly lock any where from a few hours to days the I have to repeat the process. Any one have any ideas as to how to get it working properly like it did when I first got the phone?
