screen saver

Commercial accounts have a code downloaded to receivers so they don’t go into stand by.

I had a hotel (not my customer) who a receiver on a Dish residential account with the porn channel.

The receiver was in a headend and needed to stay on the same channel.

We ended up setting up an auto tune timer so every hour it would tune to the channel which seemed to work.

We also set the receiver to take the updates at noon and had another auto tune timer at 12:05 and 12:10

It seemed to work

I honestly think they put the screen savers on the receivers to prevent them from going into a headend system and being used on commercial systems.

I actually like the screen saver as I have 1 family member who likes to sleep with the Tv on.

Usually the screen saver takes over before I fall asleep, so it’s good for me.

Other than that, I used to keep an extra RF remote in my room just to pause it shut down the receiver

I do not understand how people are seeing the screen saver without pausing the TV. That doesn't happen if you turn off the power save mode. The screen saver is only supposed to come on when you pause the receiver.

no. my eyes have became worse so i do not see the difference between a 400 dollar visio led from Walmart and a 4000 dollar oled

I was watching the Ravens game last night on Fox and the screen saver would come on every 5 minutes. I had to press a button on the remote to get it to go off. Last night was the first time I have had an issue like this. Can someone verify what solution worked for them? I meant to restart the receiver (HR44-500) but it slipped my mind this morning.

jimbo i never pause. this is just for my puppy to watch whenever she lays down. so even if you leave it alone the screen saver still comes up? there have not been CRT tvs in years that needed a screen saver.
raoul5788 I call and bitch every 6 months so they give me HBO showtime etc for free another 6 months!!!

You'll have to get a non-DVR, non-client receiver for a dog. I never saw a screen saver on a H24 or H25. It's so dumb they offer DogTV and yet it's unusable on more than half their equipment.

What recvr were you using ?

I had the Ravens game on for most of the night and didn't have the Screen Saver come on at all.
I'm using a HR54 and the C61k 4k client ... I was using the 4k client for the game.

One would have to give up RF mode but I wonder if a RaspberryPI could be built with a IR transmitter to automatically send out a key press every hour or so...

Or better yet! I know receivers can be controlled over the network, could a app be made for a PC to send out a remote command to the receiver every hour or so? If that's possible one could keep their RF enabled.

My dogs always seem to tune to channel 1, 2, 22, or 1111. Occasionally 33, and 333, too. Or just hit the channel up/down button if they are in bed and the peanut remote is close by.
