When trying to record a program while the receiver is off (sleep mode) the receiver records in one or two minute segments. It records program for about a minute or two then stops for 5 or 6 minutes. Each recorded program is in 15 to 20 segments. Any ideas? Hopper 3 with sling

I get that sometimes with OTA recordings, not regular satellite ones. I'm guessing the signal drops out and the hopper stops the recording and when it comes back it resumes the recording. My logic for this stems from watching OTA live and when the signal drops out the buffer clears and if you try to go back it'll say "limit reached"

These receivers don't really have a sleep mode. (I think that off is about one watt less then on.) You might try turning off HDMI CEC on your TV.
