I've had a directv tech out and it seems I have tree trouble for the upgrade to HD. I really hate this because I have been with directv since 2002. My question is how good is the HD on Time Warner and have they fixed the freeze ups on the digital channels since I last had cable.

Anyone that has had both HD directv and TWC please feel free to update me.

I guess the postive is I can put standard cable in all my rooms instead of rabbit ears.

Can only speak for what we have here in N.E. Ohio - No problem with freeze-ups. HD quality is exactly the same as over the air reception. Full resolution as transmitted by the networks and cable channels, unlilke the downrezzed compressed quality from the satellite providers.

I was just looking at the TWC website and I believe they have more HD channels than my directv. That kinda surprised me.

Thanks for the response.

I had dish hd for 4-5 years and made the switch to TWC 5 months ago, after they made me a double play offer I couldn't refuse. Also it gave me the Buffalo Sabres and NY Yankees games in HD (something dish couldn't do). I have had few HD freezeups and the pq is decent and comparable, and I do have over 80 HD channels (not counting premiums) They gave me a price guarantee for two years with no commitment on my part.

If Dish could offer me the same channels I would switch back, only because their DVR's and Equipment blow the scientific atlantic away.

well there outdated dvr sucks, i had it and went back to dtv, you can select your favorites for you list but you cant lock them out from showing up, they now have hd channels that dtv doesnt have, but im not saying after d12 goes in operation, they will have more hd channels then time warner, but we shall see who will be the leader, and yes pic quality is much better on cable then dtv. plus on dtv they will give me my local sd channels, but wont give me the hd local ones, but with timewarner i got them all in hd plus pbs hd, so i am giving them till say may or june and if d12 isnt any better for hd then i am going back to timewarner, and i will gladly pay the fee for the contract with dtv.

I think our lineup in Columbia, SC is about the same accept our regional sports networks. It's a lot more than I thought they had. They are coming out next week to install.
