Servo Motor, HELP

Eugene, You are not missing any parts. The blue disc is the coupler that adapts to the probe.

Look at the GI650 install menu Horizontal and Vertical skew settings for Galaxy 16. The skew setting of +90 would be correct for Vertical polarity. Check that the Horizontal polarity is set and saved to 0.

The 90 degree difference between Horizontal and Vertical polarity must be set and saved on every satellite if you want to receive both polarities.

Titanium,

That is correct. : -))))

My friend, the Samoan guy told me that he thinks the SKEW helps
the channel to work, it takes care of itself, which it take a little while
when first time.

JUST for a NOTE on the PAST.

Before we installed the NEW servo motor, the servo motor I had for
16 years, the SKEW setting for Horizontal channel WAS + 90
and for the Vertical channel WAS "0". For 16 years, and I did
NOT know that the SKEW would change with the NEWER servo motor,
which is always the same kind, BLUE servo motor with a BLUE couplet disc.

The one I had for 16 years had a BLACK couplet disc.

So, it was the OTHER WAY AROUND before, compare of TODAY'S
SKEW settings.

Anyway, that was in the past.

Again, that is correct for TODAY'S SKEW settings for both
H and V channels, on the GI 650i receiver.

Oh, by the way, JUST for fun FACTS. : - )))

I'm including a photo of the GI 650I Version. It showed on
the TV screen and I took a picture of it.

Just so that you know what version is my GI 650I has in it.

It also does NOT have a flash port to change the factory settings.
Like I heard there's a way to ad an extra digit for letter or
number, instead of only 2 digits, that I have now.
Only to choose a letter or a number.

Thought you would like to know. Because it sounds like
you're familiar with the GI 650i receiver.

Thanks,
Eugene

All servos polarity skew angles work identical and do not operate reverse of each other. Likely the feedhorn was installed incorrectly or a setting was changed in the GI 650 if the skew was reversed.

Skew setting is NOT automatic. The user must manually set and save the skew settings for each satellite and each polarity. Since analog transponders are rarely on any satellite anymore, the automatic skew setting will not work.

Line 3 setting In the install menu is critical. Line 3 should be set to NORMAL for each satellite. If it is set to Reverse, the Horizontal and Vertical polarity skew settings will be automatically rotated opposite of the displayed skew setting.

For example: If line 4 displayed Skew H: 0 V:+90, but line 3 was set to Reverse, the probe would rotate to +90 on Horizontal and 0 on Vertical channels.

I am not aware of any update to provide 3 character satellite naming.

Hi Titanium,

Yes, that is also correct.
But I never mess around with Line 3, since I bought
that receiver 16 years ago.

I remembered the NORMAL and REVERSE part.

Back in 2002 I used to have a large map of satellite chart
and had it on the wall next to the TV set.
It was included in a magazine called
"SATELLITE COMMUNICATIONS", provided by
"ORBIT DISHING OUT".
It was a great poster with satellite chart.
But I don't have it any more. : - ((( I wish I have, TODAY. : - (((

With that chart, I saw all the satellite that has its own Polarity???
Is that you call it????
Anyway, I saw and checked individual satellite,
one says NORMAL and the other said REVERSE, next to it.
And compared with the GI 650i receiver.

The GI factory is correct as to what it shown on the
big satellite chart.
So, I never pay attention to Line 3, much.
Until NOW you said why the SKEW look different
than it was for 16 years, until this month.

And I can't even remember which satellite is
suppose to be NORMAL or REVERSE.

So, I do understand what Line 3 is. But never touch it.

About what I heard that there's factory program with
3 digits, I heard about it from a place in, I think either

in South Carolina or North Carolina that repairs
ALL Gi receivers. This was back in 2003.
i sent my GI 450i for NOTHING.
I thought there was a problem with the terminal,
which I thought that the actuator arm wasn't moving.
So, when they got it, they said "it's fine!!!"
NO charge. So, I got it back and we found out that
we had to replace the actuator arm. This was back
in 2003.

So, that's how I heard about this place in either
N.C. or S.C. that repairs all GI receivers, that
can program GI receivers by adding 3 digits
for name a satellite.

So, what can I say more???? Thank you, I wish
I have that big satellite chart poster with
NORMAL and REVERSE listed. : - ((((

Thanks,
Eugene

Normal and Reverse polarity is no longer used on the satellites. Back in the day , adjacent satellites used offsetting polarities on the Odd and Even transponders to help the limited number (24 or 36 full bandwidth) transponders on adjacent satellites from interfering with each other. Now that satellites no longer are confined to full or half transponder bandwidths, satellite platforms coordinate their frequency and polarity usage with the adjacent satellites to minimize interference.

For your purposes, set line 3 for all used satellites to Normal and duplicate the Horizontal and Vertical skew settings from a working satellite.

Hi Titanium,

For example, Galaxy 18, C-band which was used to be
called "GO" : - ))) That's everybody's favorite name back
then, here in Seattle and in Portland. Everybody liked
"GO". Even TODAY, they still can call Galaxy 18 a "GO". : - ))

Galaxy 18 or "GO" is NORMAL FORMAT.

And IF I go to Galaxy 14, which was called "G5" on
my GI 650i receiver, is REVERSE FORMAT.

When I'm using the GEOSAT PRO PVR3500, I saw
TBN on Galaxy 14, C-band, or "G5", is on Horizontal.

So, IF you meant to change all satellites to NORMAL FORMAT,
and IF I do on Galaxy 14 or G5, then could TBN be slip onto
Vertcial ON A NORMAL FORMAT????

How can it be on the same Horizontal IF I change it to
NORMAL FORMAT on Galaxy 14, C-band, or G5???

Get it????

Eugene

Eugene,

Change Line 3 to Normal AND change the skew settings for both polarities to match across the arc. Then you will never have to worry about the differences between satellites being reverse or normal if odd or even channels are horizontal or vertical again. Just trying to make this old gear work more like a modern controller and with changes in the technology.

Imagine this: A vertical channel polarity setting angle could become the same for every satellite and a horizontal channel polarity setting angle could become the same for every satellite. Even channels and odd channels will be mapped the same for each satellite!

Just trying to make it easier for you to manage multiple satellites using outdated formats and technology.

It would drive me nuts if my controller had reversed polarity settings for some of the satellites and I had to remember which ones and how to set up new satellites. If you prefer to keep it the way it is, so be it.

Get it? :clapping

Hi Titanium,

YES, I do understand, but MY BRAIN doesn't.
Between my eyes and my mind, doesn't seem to
accept the changes. : - )))

YES, I want to do it, but NOT my brain.
I guess it doesn't hurt to make changes.

For example, I just tried it out for THE FIRST TIME.

On Galaxy 16 C-band is REVERSE, on the GI 650i receiver, OKAY???
While I'm seeing H channel on the GEOSAT PRO digital receiver,
watching U.S. Virgin Island, NBC.
On the GI 650i the transponder is channel 1, Horizontal.
When I changed from REVERSE to NORMAL format,
it changed the transponder channel 1 Vertical !!! Ahhhh!!! : - ))
And on the SKEW it was switched to V instead of H.
So, I changed the next transponder on the GI 650i to
transponder 2, and it turns out to be H on the NORMAL FORMAT.
And there is the U.S. Virgin Island NBC on H on the GEOSAT PRO
digital receiver.

I did NOT SAVE it, yet until you tell me is this what should look
like???? Would I not need to worry about the OLD transponders
that were H and V once after I make all satellites to be
NORMAL FORMAT????

See, on the OLD FORMAT I named two transponders.
On Transponder 1 I named it "H" for Horizontal.
And on Transponder 2, I named it "V" for Vertical.

So, when I do make changes to NORMAL, can I go
ahead to re-name the 2 transponders as H and V???
It's just for me to know which ones is H and V when
I use the GEOSAT PRO digital receiver.

Okay???

YES, I did see the changes and that the digital channel
on H is there, no matter how I change the format on
the GI 650i receiver. It's just my brain is confused in
front of the TV set. But I want to make sure is I'm doing
it right???

I got it???

Also, what about the satellites that are already NORMAL
FORMAT??? I do not need to make changes o those????

Galaxy 19, C-band is NORMAL format, so I don't touch it.
And so of Galaxy 18, C-band is also NORMAL format.

So, I coud change the satellites that are REVERSE to NORMAL???
Like Galaxy 14 is REVERSE, also.

To change to NORMAL would I get better digital channels on
the GEOSAT PRO PVR-3500?????

By the way, I went back to Galaxy 19, C-band, TONIGHT
to watch POWERBALL LOTTO!!!
IT'S GREAT!!!
Transponder 23, Vertical + 90. Analog, C-band
And FILTER: 2.00 MZH.

Just let me know when to do it on all of the REVERSE satellites????
It doesn't seem to hurt it, and maybe forget how the GI factory
program back in the 20th Century???? : - )))

Thanks,
Eugene

Okay, Titanium,

I just looked up on LyngSat site, and looked at all the satellites on the list.
NONE of them shows what FORMAT they are.
NO NORMAL and NO REVERSE, listed, or shown

I looked and looked on LyngSat with list of satellites. : - )))
