So I was reading around and seen that shawdirect formal starchoice uses digicipher 2 from motorla. Um is this not the same as 4dtv? Lets flood shaw with requests to alacarte their stuff for 4dtv receivers? Heck I know when I get my bid dish up or even a small ku. That would be killer. Instead of using one of their systems. I email them to ask them why not and alacart stuff.
This could be a answer if we all hit them up.
um...you havent done much research huh?
they are a Canadian direct to home satellite provider. They use the same modulation scheme (DCII) as other receivers do because they (Shaw) use Motorola equipment (outdated stuff if you ask me)
Just because they use the same DCII doesnt mean "oh lets see if they will let us get those channels"...thats about as asinine of a statement as someone saying "Hey lets call Bell TV and see if they can put some of their channels on my Dish Network system. After all they both use DVB". Sorry if I sound rude but that is harsh reality.
ikki already mentioned part of it. They cannot sell to addresses that are not Canadian. Do people in the US subscribe to it? Yes. I am one of them by using a Canadian address. Also, most of those channels are Canadian channels of the US version (some folks call them basterdized) so they're not the same as the US counterpart.
Shaw already pays providers for the rights to those channels
They sell packages of channels to work with THEIR system...not another system. If you want a specific channel (or channels) so bad, subscribe to Dish/Direct/Bell/Shaw/cable.
