I just recently moved into an apartment complex that uses a third party to deliver directv. The company claims they deliver hd signal, and there are two satellites on the roof. One is a slimline 5 and the other is an lnb i have never seen before. The feed goes into a splitter in the closet that distributes to all of the rooms in the apt. I have a sd d12 reciever and an hd hr21-700 reciever. They both show signal strength of 94+ on the odd transponders on the 101 and 119 but 0 on the even ones. I show no signal on any other satellites with my hr21. I was told to go in and switch the lnb setup on the sd reciever to stacked, and that fixed the problem for that reciever, but I cannot find that on my hr 21. What can I do to fix this? And also if i am only getting signal on the 101 and 119, would that give me an hd signal?

It sounds like they have a slimline 5 and an international dish. That is how most apartment MDU's are set up. The international dish is slightly larger than the slimline and should say "DIRECTV INTERNATIONAL". The LNB looks more like something you would see on a FTA dish.

You need to be able to see 99 and 103 for HD. The International Dish sees 95 and 101.

Go into the menu on the HR and select DirecTV slimline 5 LNB dish. It might think you are connected to an international dish or an 18" single LNB.

If all else fails, call up your MDU provider and ask them to come out. That is what they are being paid to do.

If the STD rcvr works when you go into the menu and select stacked then your on a stacked system. Stacked systems are only for STD. You said there was an SL5 on the roof as well. From my experience, you physically have to get into the electrical room or where-ever all the Apts' cables are "home run." Take your wire that is usually labeled with your apt number and swap it to the high def system.(Normally SWM8's & SWM16's) you will also have to change the splitter in your closet to swm splitter.
