No, they're still unavailable. Dish Tech Support was useless. She claimed their system is down and they can't even file a report to engineering, or transfer me to advanced tech support - call back in a few days.

If these channels were moved to a different satellite, I'm beginning to think it was to a transponder that is unavailable in Alaska.

80s on 8 and Symphony Hall were moved from 119 transponder 18 to 129 transponder 29.

I am also missing both, but have only a Dish 500 with no LNB pointed to 129, so that certainly explains why. It's curious that they're bothering to reshuffle these low-bandwidth, audio-only channels. I wouldn't have thought they'd be worth the trouble.

Thanks for that. Yeah, 0 signal strength on 129/29. All I get from 129 are spotbeams 5 and 10.
Transponders 17 through 32 on 129 are CONUS (Contiguous US), you aren't going to get that up in Alaska like you do with 110/119. Your only option is to wait for the channel to get mirrored on a 129 spot-beam or back to a regular 110/119 transponder... ...Or install a 16 foot dish.

I've been listening to these channels for years and years. An arbitrary decision to cut off Alaska doesn't sit well, to say the least.

Its most likely to do with the impending MPEG2 shutdown. My guess is that it was either a oversight, or it was done on purpose with the intention of putting the channels back in place later when the channel shuffling is finished. Either way I wouldn't lose sleep over it, it will probably get fixed eventually (Unless they forget, that is).

Aw come on. That's a pretty poor (and condescending ) answer for someone in "Dish Technical Operations". If you know why then please share it with us minions -- we can probably understand and handle the truth. If you don't know, or for some reason can't tell us, then why even post this response? :no
Maybe because he is a Dish employee and he has signed an NDA and he cannot disclose exactly what is going on at this moment. All he is saying is that there is a reason for what they are doing and when the time comes it will be obvious. He is doing nothing different than what Scott does from time to time. Be patient and less abrasive...

In no way did I mean to be disrespectful or condescending and I apologize if it came across that way. I'm definitely not allowed to speak about what is going on in a public forum like this, but I can say AK/HI (anyone without 129) is affected by the Sirius channel moves and we're working on a solution to bring them back.

Here are the music channels that have changed satellites. If you don't have access to the 129 satellite, these are the music channels you would be missing. (There are other music channels that changed transponders and stayed on the same satellite, but I am only including the ones that switched satellites). I did a quick scan so I might have missed something...
