Today DISH Network released the new 109 software for the Slingloaded ViP 922 DVR. I decided to see how the Slingbox portion of the 922 was working in the software so I did some test from work.

The 922 is at my house and is hooked up to a cable modem connection from Cox Cable. My upload speed is around 6 meg. I tuned in using my Macbook Pro at my office where we have a 75 meg connection from Comcast Cable.

Below are untouched screen shots from my tests.

Let me know you thoughts. Scott I can not see how the 922 can sling better with the 109 upgrade virus the 108 firmware since the sling part still has the same firmware. I did notice an upgrade to sling firmware about three weeks ago and it seemed to have stream better back then. Is their going to be an upgrade to the sling firmware that I have not received yet?

I don't know if it's related, but for the last two days, my 922 keeps dropping off my network. I sometimes watch on a computer in my bedroom and I never even had to configure the Slingplayer, it just found the 922. Now, it disconnects after a few seconds. I checked the broadband settings, and it seems to be changing IPs every couple of minutes.

Oddly, it works fine on my Android through 3G, but not with computers on my network.

My slingbox from the 922 is working fine, but why can't I click on full screen. It's grayed out. I can't really seem to click on any of the controls. Volume, remote, zoom, or full screen. They are all grayed out. So...my remote stays on the screen all the time, and I can only watch in the window size provided.

Theoretically, sling performance could have improved with the same sling firmware, if the new base S109 improved the general network performance. Might also have something to do with why some of us are seeing the 922s drop on and off the network too.

IF they just add the ability to sling WIDESCREEN instead of cutting the sides off.
