I asked this question in another thread last week but never received a reply so I will try here. What does the green line on the spot beam maps mean? This is not the inner line(circle) but the outer circle. Specifically I am looking at Sat 61.5 Transponder 21 and Spot 61 for St. Louis locals. I get a signal strength of 62 on this transponder so does this mean I am in the reach of the STL local spot beam. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

So if I get a good signal with the spot locked I am okay. If I have a good signal on transponder 21 and not locked am I getting a signal from another sat or transponder?

If you go to Transponder 21 on 61.5 you should lock on a spotbeam. Sometimes it takes a few minutes for the spot to show up. There are a number of spotbeams on transponder 21.... Where are you located?

I am in southeast Iowa and I am well in the green line that shows on the map and I do get a signal strength of 61/62 on transponder 21 which is the one the STL locals are on. I am just wondering if I am looking at the right numbers.

Transponder 21 carries spotbeams from all over the eastern and central US. They are as follows: Richmond, VA, Chattanooga, TN, Tampa, FL, Austin, TX, Lansing, MI, Norfolk, VA, Elmira, NY, Rochester, NY, Buffalo, NY, Monroe, LA, Macon, GA, Minneapolis, MN, Atlanta, GA, St. Louis, MO. It also has virtual channels for UP29 that are not available but still transmitting....

Now, looking at the spotbeam 61 you would appear to be able to get St. Louis

But, what you are seeing on transponder 21 could also be Minneapolis. You also might be seeing the virtual transmission. You need to see if you can get the spotbeam number to come up when you play with the "aim satellite."
