Steelers sign Roethlisberger to eight-year extension

Great buy for the Steelers, they are a great team, and definitely a Super Bowl material team in the next few years.
It is very hard to find a good QB nowadays, plus Ben is big and he is also able to run the ball :) I remember during regular season, it took 3 guys to bring Ben down :).

Dallas have Tony Romo locked there for few years
New England has Tom Brady locked there for couple years, you can call him a New England franchise player.
P. Manning will be with the Colts for many years.
E. Manning will be with the NYG for many years to come.

This is a great signing for the Steelers, after seeing recient history with all the guy's they have Not paid and let go.

They pretty much had to do this signing .... I had no idea that Ben's contract was about up.

They better draft a top notch O Linemen in the 1st round, the O line needas alot of help.

Steelers are a playoff team, and they will continue to do so as long as they have Big Ben and that D.

D* needs to IMPROVE and stay healthy.
They have been lacking the last year or so, need to pick it up next year.
A healthy Polomalo would definatly help. Also had a beat up D Line

Pretty much. IMO the Rooneys do a very good job at evaluating their talent towards the end of their career, except for Woodson, they are as close to the cap as you can, I don't think they have much more money left.

The Rooneys will not overpay for players, but they will pay their players good money if they perform.

Now all they have to do is figure out how to keep that big ox healthy enough to see the end of that contract. (No way he survives 8 more years if he continues to get sacked 50-60x a year.)

Go Browns!

Can't wait till Ben get's to meet Mr. Shaun Rogers and Mr. Corey Williams for the first time! :D

Glad they signed him. Now it will take a miracle for them to win again. His weak game was exposed in the SB and with the retirement of Bettis. He will never be able to carry a team on his back.

That big ox has a superbowl ring, does your QBs have one?

The real question here is what kind of drive does Ben have left now that he's already won a Super Bowl and secured that long contract at such a young age.

Plus, from what I hear from Steeler-land, the locker room has mixed emotions of ownership not attempting to re-sign Faneca. Another thing is Ben's unanswered request for "taller" receivers. How is shorty, errr Hines Ward taking that comment?

Shawn Rogers needs to be on the field before Ben has to worry about him.
Thats why the Lions got rid of him, he could only play half the game till he was wore out and useless.

How good were you in your first 2 years in the NFL ?

Did you get any better as you gained experience ?
